The Phoenix Philosophy

The Phoenix Archers arose out of a desire to encourage and assist all members to thoroughly enjoy their archery, and to support them whether they are competitive or not.

We will always promote members attempts to improve, and support them with practical advice and coaching if required. Our credo is to enjoy your archery, not just to be competitive.

Achieving high scores can give a feeling of achievement, and we promote ambition, but we believe first and foremost that it’s essential for all archers to get full enjoyment out of the sport they love.

Whatever your preference, Phoenix Archers exists to encourage archers of all skill levels to get the most out of their archery requirements.

We offer Archery for beginners so you don't need any experience with Archery to give it a try and see if it is something you want to take up.

We are also open to membership for those who have successfully completed the beginners course either at Phoenix Archers or with another GNAS (Grand National Archery Society) recognised club. (subject to production of a valid certificate) See our Club Fees page for full details and costs.

Club Ground

Our club ground is available to shoot every day of the year, but official club nights are Tuesday and Thursday, and all day Sunday.

These are the best times to meet members who can give you an idea of what lies ahead for you if you are a complete beginner or if you are an accredited archer and just fancy our club.

Directions on how to get to our ground are on our contact us page.

Field Shoots

Field shoots take place between November and March. These, despite the name, take place in a local wood, using 3D targets that are set out in a natural environment and offer a totally different form of archery.

Could you hit a stag, or even a rabbit to feed the family? You’ll surely find out on a field shoot! Don’t worry, the ‘animals’ are made of foam and our archers still have to shop at the butchers for their meat!
